Personal Access Online Banking: Security Tips

At TFCU we've taken several steps to provide you with a secure, online method to access your accounts over the Internet. (To read more about our security, visit the Frequently Asked Questions , or FAQ, page.) There are also steps that you can take to ensure that your account information stays confidential:

  • NEVER send confidential information by email.
Email is not a secure method of sending information. Never send your social security number, member number, PIN or other confidential information through email.

TFCU will never ask for confidential account information by email, over the phone or in a website popup window.
If you recieve an email that appears to be from TFCU that asks for your member number, PIN, or other confidential information, DO NOT REPLY. Forward the email to us at estaff@tfcumn.org.

  • Use the most current version of your browser.
Keeping your browser updated is a great way to make sure your online information stays confidential. You can update your browser here: (either Internet Explorer or Netscape).

  • Use a PIN that is 7 to 10 digits in length.
Personal Access (and Telexpress) will accept PINs that are between 4 and 10 digits in length. But the longer a PIN is, the harder to guess. So increasing the length is recommended. Your PIN can be changed online. Just remember, if you change it in Personal Access, it is changed for Telexpress too (and vice versa).

  • Change your PIN on a regular basis.
If you change your PIN every month or every quarter, it becomes harder to guess and enhances your security. Do not use easily identifiable PINs like your Social Security Number, address, or birthdate.

  • Memorize your PIN.
We recommend that you memorize your PIN and do not write it down. You should never give your PIN to anyone or let anyone see you enter your PIN when you are logging into Personal Access.

  • Watch your account for unusual activity.
If you think your PIN may have been compromised or you notice any unusual activity on your TFCU account, call our Contact Center at 763-544-1517 or 1-800-862-1998 (7 am to 7 pm, Monday - Friday) to investigate. You can also change your PIN online immediately using Personal Access or Telexpress. Keep all documents that include your account information in a secure place so that confidential information cannot be obtained by others. These documents include ATM receipts, account statements, your ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN), and your Telexpress/Personal Access PIN.
